Artist's Statement

My current works deal mainly with science fiction. I am interested in how we observe things such as light, color, and texture. Inspired by artist Wayne Barlowe, I try to imagine what alien life or beings of the future earth would look like without being bound to conventional rules. By breaking up the form and supersaturating the image, I attempt to present something that our eyes are not accustomed to seeing. Sometimes I set an atmosphere as a backdrop to offer a reference point to the unrecognizable alien shapes. Often the pieces just become pure abstraction, which I leave to my satisfaction.
